Question:
How do I change the time and date on my phone system

For Vodavi/Vertical STS, XTS, and XTSc phone systems:
  1. At the operators station, normally extension 100. Dial 692
  2. The display show read “Date and Time”
  3. Dial YY/MM/DD/HH/MM
    a. YY = 2 digit year
    b. MM = 2 digit month
    c. DD = 2 digit day
    d. HH = 2 digit hour in 24 hour format
    e. MM = 2 digit minute
  4. The system should give you confirmation tone and the time and date should change.

Note: in some cases the system numbering plan may have been altered to accommodate customer requests and the 692 code may be different. If this does not work please call our office.

 

For NEC SV8100, SV9100, and SL1100
  1. Dial 728 the display will not change
  2. Dial the HH/MMa. HH = 2 digit hour in 24 hour format.
    b. MM = 2 digit minute
  3. The system will give you confirmation tone and the time will update on the terminal.

 

Question:
When people call me on the intercom the call does not come through hands free:

On Vodavi/Vertical there is a button or switch marked HTP. If it is a switch move it the H (hands free) position. If it a button press it until the light is out, if you have a display it should say “HANDSFREE”.

On NEC dial 821 or 721 to switch from signal to voice, the display should say “Voice Call”. To switch back to signaling mode dial either 823 or 723, the display will show “Signaling”

 

Question:
How Do I program Speed Dial or Abbreviated Dial

For Vodavi/Vertical STS, XTS and XTSc, there are personal and system speed bins. The personal bins are 9000-90019, which are programmed from each individual terminal. The system speed bins are from 9020-9099, which can only be programmed from the attendant location (normally station 100). Depending on software and programing, there are an additional bins 9100-9999 available.

  1. Press the Speed key twice
  2. Dial the bin location 9XXX
  3. Dial the phone number to store
  4. Press the Speed key once, you should here confirmation tone.
For NEC SV8100, SV9100, and SL1100:
  1. Press down arrow software under the display
  2. Press Prog software key
  3. Press down arrow software key
  4. Press SPD
  5. Dial 3 digit bin location (000-999)
  6. Dial phone number to store
  7. Press hold
  8. Dial digit to enter a name for the bin, very similar to entering a name on a cell phone
  9. Press hold

10.  You can enter another bin to continue programming the speed dial

 

Question:
How to forward my phone to another phone in the office?

To Manually Forward your phone on Vodavi/Vertical STS, XTS, and XTSc:

  1. Dial 640
  2. Dial
    a. 6 for All Call
    b. 7 for No Answer
    c. 8 for Busy
    d. 9 for Busy/No Answer
  3. Dial the extension number you wish to forward
  4. Should hear confirmation tone

To cancel call forward

  1. Dial 640
  2. Should hear confirmation tone

To Manually Forward a Phone on NEC SV8100, SV9100, and SL1100:

Set/Cancel Call Forward Immediate 741
Set/Cancel Call Forward Busy 742
Set/Cancel Call Forward No Answer 743
Set/Cancel Call Forward Busy/No Answer 744
Set/Cancel Call Forward Both Ring 745
Set/Cancel Call Forward Follow-me 746

The codes above are default and can be changed.

The alternative of dialing the code is,

Press the far right soft key under the display, it looks like a down arrow.

Press the second from the left soft key, it will be labeled Prog

Press the left soft key, it will be labeled Cfwd

Press either the softkey for All, Both, Busy, or press the far right soft key (down arrow) for N/A (No Answer) B/NA (Busy No Answer)  or Fl (Follow me) forwarding

  1. To forward your phone dial one of the codes above depending how you want the phone to forward.
  2. Dial 1 to activate
  3. Dial destination, if an outside number dial 9 before the number, (unless ARS is activated)
  4. Hang up

 

  1. To cancel the forwarding dial the one of the codes from the list above
  2. Dial 0 to deactivate
  3. Hang up

 

Question:
How do I make a conference call:

For Vodavi/Vertical STS, XTS, and XTSc:
  1. While on a call, either incoming or outgoing.
  2. Press the Conf key
  3. Pick up another line and dial second phone number, or dial an internal party
  4. Once they answer press Conf key
  5. You can continue adding parties up to 5 external calls
  6. Once you have everyone press the Conf key again to connect everyone together.
For NEC SV8100, SV9100, and SL1100
  1. While on a call, either incoming or outgoing
  2. Press Conf soft key
  3. Pick up another line and dial second phone number, or dial an internal party
  4. Press Add soft key
  5. You can continue adding parties up to 16 external calls
  6. Once you have everyone press the Begin soft key

 

Question:
How do I display caller ID of past calls:

On Vodavi/Vertical STS, XTS, and XTSc, depending on software version the operations changes

On early versions of software

  1. Dial 659 to view Answered or 635 for Unanswered calls
  2. Use the HOLD to go the next entry
  3. Use the TRANS to go to previous entry

On newer Version of software

  1. Dial 669 to view both Answered and Unanswered calls
  2. Use the volume keys to step up and down the table.

For NEC SV8100, SV9100, and SL1100

  1. Press the List soft key
  2. Press CID soft key to view incoming calls, or Redial to view outgoing calls.
  3. Press the up and down arrow soft keys to go up and down in the table

 

Question:
What is the difference between a line and an extension?

A line is provided by the local telephone carrier. It is connected to your phone system. It is your phone number to dial out and customer to call you.

An extension is a physical telephone connected to your phone system. It can access some or all of the lines in your system.

How to change the main menu greeting in the Voice Mail

For Vodavi/Vertical STS, XTS, and XTSc, depending on the voice mail the operation is different.

On the In-skin Flash Voice Mail

  1. HIT VOICE MAIL
  2. WHEN V.M. PICKS UP PRESS *, #
  3. ENTER MAILBOX # 00
  4. ENTER 9 # 56 WHEN REQUESTED FOR SYSTEM PASSWORD
  5. PRESS 1 TO ACCESS SYSTEM GREETINGS
  6. ENTER DESIRED GREETING NUMBER 01-09 (DAY GREETING IS 01)
  7. PRESS 1 TO REVIEW DATA, 2 TO RECORD AND 3 TO DELETE
  8. PRESS * TO GO BACK TO DESIRED MENU GREETING NUMBER
  9. PRESS * * TO RETURN TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE OPTION MENU
  10. PRESS * * * TO EXIT THE SYSTEM COMPLETELY

 

For the Digital Dispatch/Talkpath Voice Mail
  1. PRESS VOICE MAIL BUTTON
  2. ENTER YOUR PASSWORD
  3. DIAL 7
  4. ENTER PASSWORD 2275 OR 8991
  5. PRESS 1 – TO RECORD PROMPT
  6. PRESS 1- TO EDIT MENU PROMPTS
  7. ENTER MENU #
  8. LISTEN TO PROMPTS AND ALWAYS WRITE DOWN WHAT EACH MENU SAYS BEFORE CHANGING. ALSO MENU #’S START AT 100 AND GO UP FROM THERE. 100 USUALLY IS DAYTIME AND 104 IS USUALLY THE NIGHT MENU.
For NEC SV8100, SV9100, and SL1100

   Recording Greetings in a NEC InMail

  1. Press VMsg key. The mailbox must have System Administrator enabled. By default mailbox 101 has Administrator rights.
  2. If you have a security code enter your security code
  3. Dial 72 for Administrator functions
  4. Dial 4 or the Instr soft key for Instruction mailbox greetings
  5. Dial 001 for Day Greeting, 002 for Night greeting
  6. Dial 7 or Rec soft key to record the greeting
  7. Press # to end the recording
  8. Press 5 or Lstn soft key to listen the recording
  9. Press # to go back to record another greeting
